The Golden State Valkyries and the Atlanta Dream are the last two teams standing in what's been a whirlwind WNBA season, reaching new heights of popularity on and off the court.
One reason their popularity has surged off the court is former NBA player Enes Kanter, who said he will do everything in his power to declare for the WNBA Draft and has been drawing attention away from the on-court action since July.
Kanter revealed on X that he will be attending Game 3 of the Finals.
"I'm excited to announce that I'll be in Atlanta on October 21st for Game 3 of the WNBA Finals!"
Kanter referenced Valkyries' star Gabby Williams as one of his biggest inspirations, while also saying he will take notes on rebounding and finishing from Angel Reese while watching her play.
"As you all know, this all started with an interview featuring Gabby Williams of the Golden State Valkyries, when she said, 'I have no problem with trans athletes playing on my team or against my team.' Her words gave me so much hope and motivation to come out as a woman and officially declare for the WNBA Draft. I can't wait to watch my favourite player, the woman who inspired me to become who I am today!"
"Second, my favourite diva has unfortunately blocked me on social media. But that won't stop me from showing my appreciation for the one and only Angel Reese! I can't wait to take some notes on how to finish a layup after grabbing a rebound."
Whether he admits it or not, these comments are dripping with sarcasm, as Williams' comments were to protect trans athletes and not for cis men to exploit the WNBA's openness to consider trans athletes in such a manner.
The last time Kanter attended a WNBA game was a clash between the Chicago Sky and the Indiana Fever, getting removed from the game and banned from attending another game by the Sky for getting into a heated interaction with guard Natasha Cloud.
Kanter will likely make a political statement, already implying that the T-shirt he will wear to the game will have an emphatic message.
The 34-year-old former NBA center will likely be under immense scrutiny at the game, with any infraction of the fan conduct policy likely resulting in an ejection to ensure he cannot sidetrack another WNBA game with his presence on the courtside seats.
